Virtual tour
The Historical Cheb Foundation has prepared a virtual guide to the roof of the Franciscan Church in Cheb
As part of the four-year project ÉTA, which is focused on the use of the potential of historical roofs for the development of education and tourism, an extremely interesting document has been created, making the otherwise inaccessible roof of the nave of the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary of the Franciscan Monastery in Cheb accessible to the general public. The truss, built at the beginning of the 16th century, is one of the largest preserved historical trusses in the Czech Republic. Through a virtual tour it is possible to go through the entire truss step by step and learn a lot of interesting information in short thematic videos.
The town of Cheb is proud to call itself a town of historic roof trusses, the complex of existing functional wooden structures is quite extraordinary. The tour route Under the Roofs of Cheb Houses run by the tourist information centre is the only one in the country.
The virtual tour was created by Petr Šneberk from the REXLIFT company, the expert documents were provided, the commentary was prepared and narrated by the building historian Mgr. Michal Panáček, who has been cooperating with the city and the foundation since 2015.
