Church of Saint Jodocus
The church had stood on the right bank of the Ohře River, east of the viaduct. It was erected in the 1430s and dedicated in 1440. Its construction was funded by local patrician families, i.e. the Angels and the Rudischs. The date 1439 was engraved on the altar, and the bell bore the date 1463. The church was closed during the Reformation (1565 – 1684). For many years, the altar was decorated with a Romanesque antependium, i.e. a curtain covering the altar base. This unique historical artefact was made by the Clarisse nuns for the castle chapel. In 1874, it was placed in the town museum. From 1529, various structures serving the poor or the sick were built in the vicinity of the church.
