Prisoners of War Memorial
You can find the monument near the cottage area in the Podhrad district.
On the site of the former camp for prisoners of war near Cheb, two memorials designed by local sculptor Karl Wilfert Jr. were erected in 1917 in honour of the 420 Russians and 225 Muslims buried here during World War I. Both monuments survived to this date, yet they are in a very poor condition. After 1960, most of the tombstones were used for the foundations of weekend houses built around the newly constructed Jesenice dam and water reservoir.
