Adolf Mayerl
Birthdate: August 28, 1884
Date of death: September 23, 1954
He was apprenticed as a potter in the workshop of his father in Cheb, then a specialized secondary ceramic school in Teplice, Art Academy in Prague – plastic art classes with Prof. Josef Myslbek, since 1905 working as an independent artist in Cheb and Františkovy Lázně. The author of portraits sculptures (of abbots in the Teplá monastery), monuments (memorial to the fallen at Chlum), of the figures on wells (bagpiper and the guild fountain in Cheb), smaller sculptures, stone reliefs, glazed-tiled stove and other works for which he drew inspiration primarily in the Cheb folklore.
