Ing. Josef Pascher
Birthdate: March 7, 1850
Date of death: February 23, 1932
He was born on 7th March 1850 in Stříbro. In 1875, he graduated from the German Technical University in Prague. Then he worked as an assistant on the construction of the Gotthard Railway in Styria. He lived and worked in Cheb since 1879. In cooperation with the building company of Ferdinand Herglotz, he built some villas in Divadelní Square. Between the years 1885 and 1931, he led the German Building Authority, initially as a building inspector, then as a building councillor. He carried out the redevelopment of the old town, including the sewer system, designed the construction of the roads in the new town, restored St. Nicholas Church, built infantry barracks in front of Mostní Brána (Bridge Gate), a school near Horní Brána (Upper Gate) and a school in Schiller Park and in Karlova Street. He also projected the construction of a new general hospital (1906 – 1910) and conversion of the old hospital into a forestry school, today the Elementary School in Kostelní Square. He died on 23rd February 1932.
