Memorial plaque – Balthasar Neumann 2
A new commemorative plaque for the Cheb native Balthasar Neumann was made in 2001 on the basis of a proposal of the Museum of Cheb. But before the installation was found out that the plaque cannot be placed in the original location because there is an ugly prefab block of flats standing there. The plaque was therefore attached to the remains of the town walls around the corner. The makeshift explanation that the workshop where Neumann learnt his trade is true; nevertheless the visitor also learns a new “tale” from the plaque that the house where the Baroque builder was born used to stand there as well.
