Memorial Plaque – Volkstag
The plaque is installed in the courtyard of the Town House. At the occasion of the Cheb National Day, Felix Dahn wrote the following verses: “The greatest asset of man are his people, the greatest asset of the people is their law, the soul of the people lives in their language. We, loyal to the people, law and our language, have been found by this day as we shall always be by every other day!” Consisting of two parts, the plaque with the verses of Felix Dahn was installed on the wall of the Town House in commemoration of the events that had taken place on the Cheb day. During the first Czechoslovak Republic, the plaque had to be covered for its allegedly hostile text. It was ultimately destroyed in 1945.
