Tanneries
Because of the unpleasant odour of their trade, tanners were forced to move outside the town gates to the suburb known as Mostní předměstí on the other side of the Ohře River as early as in the 14th century. In the 1900s, the once significant tanneries driving the economic life of the medieval town were mere small and negligible workshops.
