Forestry School

Accessible to the public (according to opening hours)
The structure, which was built on the west side in the open space with a wooden gallery below the town walls probably according to the design of V. Prökl in 1836, originally served as a town hospital. It was converted into a school building by J. Pascher in 1911. The square building has a clear symmetrical layout with tall and precisely aligned narrow windows. The original building, as dictated by the Classicist style, was without any decorations. During the reconstruction, the windows on the ground and upper floor were enlarged to match the size of the windows on the first floor. Thus, ideal ventilation and illumination of the rooms was achieved in compliance with the distinct reformist style of school architecture in the late 19th century. The forefront is emphasized by a frontispiece on three sides and styled stucco decorations. The décor is distinguished by planar rustic fields and it is expressed by early Classic details in the fashion of the late 18th century, apparently influenced by Art Nouveau.
