Viaduct
The viaduct was rebuilt after the war. It has been serving its original purpose ever since.
The viaduct arching over the valley of the Ohře River is indeed a major achievement of railway builders. The massive arch bridge is 378 metres long and 24.8 metres high and its incorporation in the surrounding landscape emphasises the use of local granite. All 12 pillars connected by arches were line with bricks, thereby creating an impression of unlimited bearing capacity. During World War II, the viaduct became a target of the bombers of Western Allies and was destroyed. The viaduct was probably designed by Heinrich von Hügel.
