Shooting Range

The object no longer exists
The shooting range is another municipal building, which was built below the castle on the site known as Rahm according to the design of V. Prökl in 1828. The old shooting range in front of Horní brána (Upper Gate) was a simple one-storey house. Since it had become too small and intensely dilapidated, it had to be replaced by a larger ostentatious building. The new structure was built in Classical style as a one-storey building with a main risalit and frontispiece, with typical Biedermeier majesty and elegant Empire shapes. When the town council decided on extending the building and adding another floor in 1858, the original structure was converted into an English-style, Pseudo-Gothic chateau in conformity with the then romantic architectural trends. The risalit with the entrance to the entrance hall on the ground floor was framed by Gothic towers made of tin with corner spirelets. The gable forefront facing the river was castellated and again complemented with spirelets. The longitudinal wall was segmented by windows with broken arches and eyelets. The style of the conversion undoubtedly points to builder Adam Haberzettl. A detached simple and plain building with a hall was constructed next to the shooting range in 1870. The hall was extended and refurnished in 1927. Both structures were destroyed in 1945.
